Library Card Policy


  1. To obtain a library card, one must be a resident of the E.B. Crawford Public Library district. (The Library district is comprised of those portions of the Monticello Central School district within the Towns of Bethel, Forestburgh, and Thompson.)
  2. Applicants must provide current photo ID and proof of residency within the library district.
  3. If they do not possess proof of residency, a postcard may be mailed to the applicant. When the applicant brings in the card, he or she is issued a library card.
  4. Non resident property owners may obtain a library card with a current photo ID and proof of ownership (a tax bill, co-op share certificate, or a statement of ownership from the co-op management on letterhead).
  5. All applicants must be able to write their name.
  6. Applicants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the application card also.
  7. A library card entitles the bearer to borrow from both the Adult's and the Children's Rooms.
  8. First time borrowers are limited to one item from the adult section and two from the children's section.
  9. A patron must present their library card to check out books. When a patron does not have a card with them, there is a charge of $.25 to check out books.
  10. There is a charge of $2.00 to replace a lost library card.
  11. Library cards are not transferable.


If you are a summer visitor and do not own property in the Crawford Public Library District, you may purchase a seasonal card.

This card is valid at Ethelbert B. Crawford Library only.

  1. Fee for borrowing privileges:   $26.00
  2. Card must be presented to borrow materials.
  3. Maximum of 6 Adult items and 30 Children's items may be borrowed at a time.
  4. One interlibrary loan request at a time.
  5. Card is not transferable.
  6. No refunds.

Computer Use Policy


  1. All library computer users are limited to one 45 minute session per day.
  2. Printing is available at 10 cents per page b/w and 25 cents per page color.
  3. RCLS library card holders may sign themselves in on any available computer.
  4. Visitors without an RCLS library card may use a guest card for computer/internet access.  Please present identification at the Circulation desk for assistance.
  5. Vistors may use guest computer access 3 times.
  6. A $3.00 Internet Access Card should be purchased for additional visits. This card will permit computer/internet access for 1 year.   Internet Card holders will be able to sign themselves in without staff assistance.



  1. WiFi is available free of charge to visitors with their own devices.
  2. Printing is not available from personal devices.
  3. Electrical outlets are limited.  Please be prepared to operate your device on battery power.
